As we advance with technology, programmable hardware will be on the rise. These hardware are built on modular architectures with software and interfacing capabilities. The problem for industrial organizations is that the old reliable machines have a replacement cycle of at least a decade.
In order to stay competitive, short term fix for industrial organizations would be to add sensors, telematics and data modules and hook the product in use data with with a digital twin of the machine.
