Drawing(I am not suggesting professional art) is an essential toolset for an architect.
When nothing seems clear whether it is the beginning of a new project or critical phase of the project when the solution is fuzzy, walking up to the whiteboard and drawing a box or two with some connections between the boxes gets the discussion started. This brings out the simplicity or complexity of the solution.
As an architect, you may not necessarily make every complex solution a simpler but drawing the complexity will make the stakeholders realise what they signing up to.
As an old proverb says ‘A picture is worth thousand words’.
