Are you dealing with redundant functionality or enterprise structures?

Enterprises today especially the large one’s are facing a challenge of building redundant functionalities and structures either due to the silo ways of working or through acquisitions. I recently experienced a similar scenario where this enterprise has created a huge overlapping in an individual business area by acquiring multiple companies providing similar solutions. An  architecture impact assessment is underway to come out  of this mess.

While redundancy could be useful when planned e.g. architecting for a redundant  infrastructure to handle the failure; is always a best practice but an unplanned redundancy would result wasted resource and lost opportunity.

Can Business Architecture help to resolve the issue of redundant functionality and enterprise structures?

Business Architecture helps in aligning shared capabilities, processes, products, customers and funding initiatives.
